Our 2020 Fishing Vision!

It’s hard to believe we are already in 2020!

To get things started the right way, we’ve asked The Tackle Warehouse crew to share their fishing goals for 2020. One consistent pattern that we see with every good angler is that they set themselves new goals all the time. Whether it’s learning a new technique, targeting a new species or breaking a personal best, setting a goal is the starting point of all great achievements

Here are some of the goals that the Tackle Warehouse Team have set for themselves for the year ahead. Hopefully this will give you guys some ideas on what you would like to try and achieve in your fishing life this year too!

Gordon McDonald

As one of the senior members of The Tackle Warehouse team, Gordon has seen a lot of great fishing in his time and caught some incredible fish. This year though, Gordon’s target is going to be a real challenge. Gordon’s goal for 2020 is to catch an 8kg+, Moreton Bay tuskfish. These bruisers are a serious adversary at any size but a specimen over the 8kg mark is a trophy (although they do grow to 15kg!). To target these reef dwellers, Gordon is going to be using whole sand crabs for bait. Heavy line and leader is needed to stop these fish from getting back into the reef but the risk should definitely be worth the reward if Gordon can pull it off.

Adam Meredith

Adam had a stellar year last year on impoundment barramundi taking out the Venom Barra Australia Open as part of Team Venom alongside fellow Barra gun angler Troy Dixon. Adam’s goal for 2020 is to continue this success and hopefully see history repeat with back-to-back victories at Awoonga in September. Adam is also looking to take part in the northern ABT Barra Comps this year. These competitions play host to the best Barra anglers in Australia and Adam hopes to pick up some new tips from some of these top tier anglers. If you are planning a trip north to tangle with these epic sportsfish, make sure you drop in and have a chat with Adam, he’ll be happy to tell you what he knows.

Liam Court

When Liam isn’t working at The Tackle Warehouse, he likes to fish a couple of secret spots that he keeps pretty close to his chest. In 2020 Liam is looking to target big flathead on a topwater lure. This trend has been catching on for a little while now and Liam is definitely the guy to talk to if you want some tips. The specific target fish for Liam is a flathead of 80cm+, which will be amazing if he can pull it off. Watch this space!

Tom Gray

Our resident GT popping, tuna jigging madman is going to have his work cut out for him with his first child on the way, but that won’t stop him from hitting the water in search of new personal bests. Tom’s goal for 2020 is to do more jigging and specifically targeting kingfish and amberjack. Tom wants to land both a 10kg+ king and a 10kg+ amberjack on the jigging gear before 2020 is done. If any of you saw the beast GT he landed over the break, you’ll know that when Tom hits the water, he means business Like anything in life it’s important to set goals and as you can see, the team at The Tackle Warehouse have their work cut out for them this year. What fishing goals have you set for 2020? Regardless of what your goals are for the year, drop in and have a chat to the team about how they can help you reach them with the best gear and advice getting around. Let’s welcome in 2020 the right way, with tight lines and screaming drags!
